The following video of Cameron will give an example of the difference between expressive language and receptive language. You will also see problems caused by too large of a tongue in too small of a mouth with hypotonia (relaxed and poor muscle control) that makes it physically difficult to speak. Cameron also has hearing loss which compounds his speech problem. This complicates Camerons life as people do not give him credit for the person he is and society takes glee in calling somebody a "tard".
Recently at school, in the playground a boy raised his fists at Cameron and said "You are stupid!" Before the boy could hit Cameron, Cameron hit the boy in the nose. We corrected Cameron and told him in the future that he should tell the teachers or an adult when a boy tries to fight with him. For me, it was a "proud Daddy moment".
